Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a porous substrate for detection of surface bound substances, comprising a generally planar microporous substrate material having opposed surfaces and pores extending through a thickness of said substrate in which the pores are wider near one surface of the substrate compared to a width of the pores on the opposed surface thereby improving the collection efficiency of light emitted from optical probes bound to the interior surfaces of the widened pores. The pores may be progressively wider near one surface of the substrate.
