Abstract:
This invention relates generally to a manner of cooling an injection mold assembly which is designed for molding a centrally apertured part such as a video disc. The mold assembly comprises two halves 14, each including a platen 148 which comprises a plurality of spiral cooling channels. Each channel has more than one spiral turn, and an input and output 422/424, 412/414, 402/404 lying in the mould half 14. A cooling channel 390a is provided adjacent the injection sprue bushing, and channels 440/446 in the mould half. The injection gate and sprue removal mechanism are constructed as defined in the parent application 2,006,666.
