Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve chargeability and energy density by charging a metal substrate or supporter with or applying thereto a powdery mixture mainly composed of nickel hydroxide powder of constituting the surface of a curved surface main unit.

CONSTITUTION: In a stirring bath of rotating a stirring blade at a high speed, a nickel sulfate water solution of prescribed concentration is allowed to flow in, and on the other hand, flake-shaped NaOH powder is input, to hold pH in about 11 and a temperature at about 40'C in a stirring condition. By slowly aging, almost spherical nickel hydroxide powder of 1 to 100μm mean grain size is obtained. Next to 100g of this powder, the ratio of a mixture 1 of 5g cobalt powder is kneaded together by 70cc water. This mixture is sucked up by a pump of good adhesion, blown to a substrate from a foaming metal and charged, and the mixture is pressurized after drying, immersed in a suspension containing fluororesin and again dried. Then handling in electrode manufacture is stabilized, and the charging capacity of an active material relating to a substrate or supporter can be uniformly obtained.
