Abstract:
1478613 Casting on a rotatable mould J ZACHARIASSEN 26 June 1974 [2 July 1973] 31394/73 Heading B5A Concrete is cast and vibrated to form a building element 6 (Fig. 6) while the moulding surface 2 is slanting, the surface 2 is then rotated to a vertical position for further vibrating and vacuum removal of excess water, and finally to a horizontal position. In one embodiment, the surface 2 is placed on a platform 1 positioned horizontally, followed by a polythene foil 3 held on by a vacuum applied through the surface 2, steel reinforcement 4, and by an upper surface 5 (which may support the reinforcement by hooks or magnets). The platform 1 is tilted to a slanting position (as in Fig. 6) and concrete 6 cast and vibrated. The platform 1 is tilted to the vertical, an airtight cover attached, and vibration and suction applied through the moulding surface 5. The platform 1 is tilted to slant again, upper surface 5 removed, a foil 9 (Fig. 15) and reinforcement 10 applied, upper surface 5 reattached, and casting repeated. These steps are repeated until a stack of elements are formed, and then removed from the horizontally positioned platform by means of surfaces 5 or 2, with the aid of vacuum, atmospheric or positive pressure. Excess water can be sucked out at any time in the cycle.
