Abstract:
Exhaust gas handling system for internal combustion engines of the catalysation type is described. Basically the system consists of a housing surrounding a reaction chamber which is at least partially filled with a fibrous material. The housing is constructed of at least isolating material with the isolating layer as the internal chamber wall. The fibrous filling can be a ceramic type catalyst. In a typical application the whole housing unit complete with filling takes the place of the exhaust manifold. During cold starting, the reactor is preheated by a valve controlling the exhaust flow.
