1425643 Plant growth regulating composition F HOFFMANNLA ROCHE & CO AG 2 Aug 1973 [3 Aug 1972 26 Feb 1973 2 April 1973] 36751/73 Heading C1B [Also in Division C2] A plant growth regulating composition comprises a growth regulating adjunct and an effective amount of at least one compound of the formula wherein, when n stands for 1, R represents hydrogen; sodium; potassium; ammonium; ammonium substituted with one or more C 1 -C 7 alkyl, C 2 -C 7 alkenyl or hydroxy C 1 -C 7 alkyl radicals; straight- or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbyl; or halo C 1 -C 7 alkyl; and, when a stands for 2, R represents calcium, magnesium or C 2 -C 7 alkylene, and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 represent hydrogen or straight- or branched-chain C 1 -C 7 alkyl, a stands for 1 or 2 and X stands for zero or 1, or an enantiomer, racemic mixture or addition salt thereof. The growth regulating adjunct may be selected from one or more dispersing, wetting or emulsifying agents, agents providing resistance to rain or improving penetrating power, mineral oils, plant oils, glues, bactericides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, chelating agents, and solid carriers. The compositions are useful as post-emergence and pre-emergence plant growth regulants and herbicides and suitably comprise 0À01 to 95% by wt. of the active compounds. The compositions may also be employed as abscission agents, e.g. by facilitating the removal of fruit from trees. The compositions may also include other plant growth regulants (many of which are specified) and may be formulated and applied in a conventional manner.
