Japanese Patent JPS5717587
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1481993 Nozzles; foam generators CHEMTRUST INDUSTRIES CORP 6 Sept 1974 [11 Sept 1973] 39051/74 Headings B1C and B2F A foam generating nozzle assembly 33 for dispensing cleaning liquids, comprises an inlet section including an orifice 42 from which the liquid issues in a diverging stream, and a foam producing section 33b downstream from said orifice having inlet ports 43 for aspiration of air and a pressure reducing passageway including an outwardly tapering portion 46a merging with an elongate throat portion 46b, the orifice 42 being so positioned that the widest portion of the diverging stream strikes the downstream end of the tapering portion 46a to produce turbulence. Preferably the throat 46b is cylindrical with a lengthto-diameter ratio of 4 to 1. The inlet section includes a nozzle 33a terminating in laterally facing ports 32. A screw thread 28a on nozzle 33a engages with an internal thread in a member 33c, so that rotation of the latter moves orifice 42 axially with respect to ports 32 to vary the divergence of the stream issuing from orifice 42. Foaming action is enhanced by an expansion chamber 41, the length-todiameter ratio of which is preferably in the range 7-18, Fig. 16 (not shown). A portable mobile cleaning unit (2), Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), has a wheeled base (4) carrying a container (20) and an electrically driven pump (14). A flexible hose (22) carries a handoperated valve (not illustrated) and the nozzle assemblies 33. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a tank sprayer (2') has a pump operated by a handle (2b') and a similar hose (22') and nozzle assembly 33. In another embodiment a hand pump unit (60), Fig. 11 (not shown), including a container (66) for cleaning liquid, has a nozzle (33a') with non-axial apertures (78), Fig. 15 (not shown), and a spray angle adjusting member (33c') with a discharge orifice (90). A foam generating nozzle attachment (33b') of moulded plastics material has air inlet ports (43') and an inlet (46c') for liquid into a pressure reducing passageway including a convergent portion (46a') merging into an elongate throat portion (46b'). The latter leads to an expansion chamber (41').
