Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve both scavenging and exhausting efficiencies in a 2-4 cycle changeable engine. CONSTITUTION:An intake valve 2 and an exhaust valve 3 are installed in a cylinder head 1, and a common hole 5 is installed in the lower side wall of a cylinder liner 4. In addition, there is provided a passage 6 so as to surround this common hole 5, while an intake pipe 8 and an exhaust pipe 9 are connected to this passage 6, and each of on-off valves 10, 11 is installed in these intake and exhaust pipes 8 and 9. At the time of two cycle drive, the on-off valve 10 is opened and the on-off valve 11 is closed the other way, using the common hole 5 as a scavenging hole, and at the time of exhaust, the on-off valve 10 is closed but the on-off valve 11 is opened instead, using the common hole as an exhaust hole, and at the time of four cycle drive, the valve 10 is closed and the valve 11 is opened, using the common hole 5 as the exhaust hole. Thus, with the common hole used so properly, an areal increase in the exhaust hole is thus well promotable.
