Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an antimicrobial agent represented by a specific formula. CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (R<1> is an alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.; R<2> is a halogen, an alkoxy, a heteroaryl, etc.; R<3> is H, a halogen or an alkoxy; R<4> is H, an alkyl, a cation, etc.), for example, 8-(4- Methyl-1-piperadinyl)-4-oxo-1-phenyl-4H-quinolizine-3-carboxylic acid. A compound of formula II is activated by an acylating agent, then treated with an organometallic reagent of the formula R<1> CH=M (M is a metal) to give a compound of formula III, which is oxidized to give a pyridine derivative, and is metallized with a strong base and reacted with an alkoxymethylidene malonate diester to give a compound of formula IV. Then the compound of formula IV is subjected to ring formation and aromatized by heat induction condensation and a removal reaction to give the objective substance in which R<4> is an alkyl.
