Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The titled derivative shown by the formula I [one of R1 and R2 is H when the other is (protected)hydroxyl group; R3 and R4 are H or protecting group].
EXAMPLE: 5-Acetonyl-1-β-D-arabinofuranosyluracil.
USE: An antiviral agent. A reagent for biochemical study in the research of nucleic acid metabolism, etc.
PROCESS: A 5-hydroxyuracil derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with a phosphorane (preferably acetylmethylenetriphenyl phosphorane) shown by the formula III (R5 is aryl or alkyl) in a solvent, preferably dioxane, etc. in the presence of a catalyst, e.g., benzoic acid, etc. at 60W110°C for tens minutes to several hours.
