PURPOSE: To obtain an acryic-melamine top-coating paint composition giving a coating film having excellent mar resistance, by compounding a specific low- molecular weight polyol, an acrylic copolymer and an alkoxy monomeric melamine.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition contains (A) 15W60wt.% of a low- molecular weight polyol component having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 400W2,000, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of ≤1.6 (Mn is number-average molecular weight) and a hydroxyl value of 150W400mg/KOH/ g, (B) 15W60wt.% of an acrylic copolymer containing 3W50wt.% of structural unit of formula (R1WR4 are H or CH3; R5 is H, CH3, etc.; k is 0W2; l and m are 0W3; l+n is ≤3; n is 1W5) and having an Mw of 5,000W50,000 and a hydroxyl value of 50W180mg/KOH/g and (C) 20W50wt.% of an alkoxy monomeric melamine.
