PURPOSE: To improve the adhesion between polyester fiber and rubber and to prevent deterioration at high temperature by using a principal component comprising a co-condensation resin obtained from a (substituted) phenol, an aminophenol, and an aldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: At least one compound (a) of formula I wherein R1 and R2 are each H, alkyl or alkoxy, and the total number of carbon atoms of R1 and R2 is 0 to 4, selected from (m-methoxy)phenol, m-cresol, and 3,5-xylenol is co- condensed with at least one compound (b) of formula II wherein R3, R4, and R5 are each R1, and the total number of carbon atoms of R3, R4, and R5 is 0 to 4 selected from (N-methyl-)m-aminophenol, N,N-dimethyl-m-aminophenol, N-ethyl-m-aminophenol, 3-amino-5-methylphenol, and 3-N-methylamino-5- methylphenol and an aldehyde (c) (e.g. formaldehyde) to give a co-codensation product having a softening point of 80-150°C. An aqueous solution of dispersion of the product is mixed, if necessary, with a methylene donor (a resin containing it).
