PURPOSE: The titled inexpensive adhesive, having improved adhesiveness in wetting and initial time and operating efficiency with a long open time, and comprising styrene-butadiene latex, a solution of an adhesive resin in a specific solvent, urea and an inorganic filler as essential components.

CONSTITUTION: An adhesive comprising (A) a styrene-butadiene latex which may be further copolymerized with acrylic acid and maleic acid, (B) a solution of an adhesive resin, e.g. rosin (modified resin) or polyterpene resin, dissolved in an organic solvent, e.g. an aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon oil or halogenated hydrocarbon, having a boiling point of 130W500°C, (C) urea (including urea resin or urea-melamine resin) and (D) an inorganic filler, e.g. calcium carbonate, talc, clay or titanium oxide, as essential components.
