To provide an adjusting device for a liquid crystal display adjusting the liquid crystal display so that a flicker is minimized on the basis of a reflection light quantity detected by a photosensor so disposed that direct incidence of illumination light from a light source on a light receiving surface is prevented and reflection light from the liquid crystal display is made incident.
Since the light receiving surface of the photosensor comes closer to the liquid crystal display than to the light source, direct incidence of the illumination light from the light source on the light receiving surface is prevented and the reflection light from a liquid crystal panel is made incident. The potential of a common electrode of the liquid crystal display is adjusted so that the flicker is minimized on the basis of the reflection light quantity detected by the photosensor. Thereby, direct incidence of the illumination light from the light source on the light receiving surface of the photosensor is prevented by a simple construction, change of the reflection light quantity reflected by the electrode of a pixel in a light transmission state of the liquid crystal display is detected with high sensitivity and the potential of the common electrode of the liquid crystal display can be accurately adjusted so that the flicker is minimized.
