To provide an air gap holder of a shaft-type linear motor that allows the smooth linear reciprocation of a movable element with respect to a stator when the holder is used for a variety of linear reciprocation mechanisms as a longitudinal motion device, by improving the holder to be able to hold a prescribed air gap between the internal peripheral face of an armature coil and the external peripheral face of a shaft.
The shaft-type linear motor 11 is provided with a movable part comprising the movable element 11A equipped with the ring-shaped armature coil 13 in a casing 12 that is formed of a cylindrical body and also used as a yoke, and a fixed part comprising the stator 11B equipped with the shaft 15 containing a magnetic field magnet 14 composed of a large number of permanent magnets at the axial core of the movable element 11A. The air gap holder comprises at both sides of the casing 12 air gap holding rings 17 that are attached to the external periphery of the magnetic field magnet 14, interposed between the internal peripheral face of the armature coil 13 and the external peripheral face of the shaft 14, and composed of sliding members that hold the prescribed air gaps.
