To provide an alternator for vehicle capable of dealing with a variety of mounting states onto a vehicle while preventing a brush from being covered with water.
The alternator 1 for vehicle comprises a slip ring provided on the rotary shaft, a brush holder for containing a brush sliding on the slip ring, a slip ring cover covering the outer circumference of the slip ring together with the brush holder, a rear cover 9 covering electric components including the brush, and a seal member 90 arranged between the brush holder and the rear cover 9 and preventing the brush from being covered with water. A brush cooling air passage is formed in the seal member 90, and a tongue 95 is formed in order to prevent the inlet of the brush cooling air passage from being covered with water.
