NEW MATERIAL:Tallysomycin A and B derivatives of formula I and II [R is -NH(CH2)3NH2, -NH(CH2)3S+(CH3)2, -NH(CH2)3NHCN2CH2OH] and their acid adducts.
EXAMPLE: Tallysomycin S10b of formula II where R is -NH(CH2)4-NH2.
USE: Antibiotic and antitumorigenic agent: they are effective on a wide range of malignant tumors and further show lesser side-effects such as renal toxicity than natural tallysomycin A and B.
PREPARATION: A microorganism producing tallysomycin is cultured in an aqueous enriched medium in the presence of an amine precursor corresponding to R or its salt and the compounds of formula I and II are isolated from the culture filtrate through adsorption process. The microorganism producing the tallysomycin derivatives is, e.g., one of Actinomycetes E465-94 mold ATCC31158.
