Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a complex to form an antibacterial iodine carrier having high body fluid absorptivity, strength, flexibility and hydrophilic property by applying a composition including acetalized polyvinyl alcohol complexed with iodine capable of emitting free iodine in the presence of water. CONSTITUTION: PVA/I forms an insoluble iodine complex to emit iodine either in the presence of significant quantity of water or microorganism. Iodine is emitted in case the PVA/I is put in an arachette consists only of sarains. The iodine would, however, make a balance with the sarains without loosing the iodine from its system. When an organic substance is added to the sarains including this solid complex, 2 or 3PPM-approx. 100PPM of iodine would be emitted. Emitted iodine is next absorbed by the microorganisms and, kills them, causing irreversible reaction. When emitted iodine is absorbed, only in this case, the emission of the iodine wound continue as far as it comes to keep the balance.
