To achieve a considerable increase in production rate with the same quality or an improvement in quality with the same production rate.
A card clothing (5a) on a doffer (5) has a point density of at least 400 ppsi, and the ratio between the point density (ppsi) of a card clothing (4a) on a cylinder (4) and the point density (ppsi) of the card clothing (5a) of the doffer (5) influences the proportion of the fiber mass that is transferred from the cylinder (4) to the doffer (5) per revolution of the cylinder in the sense of a higher production rate or higher quality of a flat card or roller card.
