To provide an apparatus for guiding a weft yarn in an air injection type weaving machine for weaving a tire cord that surely induces (guides) a tip end of the weft yarn from a main nozzle to a weft yarn guiding groove of a reed.
An apparatus for guiding weft yarn 1 comprises guide plates 23 and 24 guiding a weft yarn 3. The guide plates 23 and 24 are fixed and positioned such that the plate is present at least between a main nozzle 7, a weft yarn holding member and a tuck-in head 15 in the weaving direction. The plate is provided in at least one portion at an upper direction or a lower direction in a fluctuation track 5 of the main nozzle 7 in the up and down direction. The apparatus comprises guiding surfaces 39 and 45 which at least extends from a position (a) of the main nozzle 7 at the time of starting to inject the weft yarn 3 from the main nozzle 7 into a position (b) of the main nozzle 7 at the time of entering the tip end of the weft yarn 3 into a weft yarn guiding groove 9 in the reed 8.
