To provide an apparatus for producing flakes, with which a flake raw material formed in uniform qualities is rapidly treated and a flake product having uniform qualities is efficiently produced.
In the apparatus for producing the flakes equipped with a feeder for the flake raw material and a belt cooler for transporting the flake raw material supplied from the feeder, the feeder has an inlet part to be connected to a supply line for the flake raw material at the upstream side of the flake raw material supply, a route for the flake raw material, having expansion from the inlet part toward the downstream side in the direction perpendicular to the traveling of the belt cooler and a slit-like outlet part at the end in the downstream side of the route for the flake raw material and has a fish tail shape. The pressure drop of the flake raw material between the inlet part and the central part of the slit-like outlet part is made approximately equal to the that between the inlet part and both end parts of the slit-like outlet part.
