To obtain the subject composition useful as a cosmetic and/or a skin disease preparation good in stability, having a homogeneous color, having no blocks of pigment or substantially free from such blocks by adding an aqueous dispersion of specific lipid microsomes and a specific pigment in an aqueous phase.
This composition contains (A) lipid microsomes having membrane formed of aqueous nuclei, and one or more fatty acid esters (preferably, a mixture of monoester and diester of α-butylglucoside of palmitic acid) and (B) an aqueous dispersion prepared by dispersing one or more non-coated pigments such as yellow iron oxide in an aqueous phase. The component A commonly has an average diameter of 10-5000 nm. The component B is contained preferably in an amount of 1-20 wt.% based on the total weight of the composition. The composition is obtained by homogenizing an aqueous suspension of the component B together with an oil/water dispersion of the component A at ambient temperature according to a common method, and subsequently mixing once or more times by using a high pressure homogenizer.
