Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an arm shaft mechanism for a sewing machine using a low-viscosity oil, causing no seizure when the clearance is made narrower than before, having low sliding resistance, and generating little noise due to a backlash.
CONSTITUTION: A compound film layer 2 made of chromium (Cr) and nitrogen (N) is generated on the surface of an arm shaft 1 by ion plating. Processing such as lapping or polishing is applied to the generated compound film layer 2, and projections on the surface are removed. The bearing 4 supporting the arm shaft 1 is made of a carbonized and quenched steel material.
