To provide an installation method of a lightning arrester which can be attached to an insulator string by securing an appropriate tolerance surely.
The lightning arrester 10 is retained on the tip part of an operation rod 4, and is made to approach the insulating string 3, and a second hinge part 14 of the lightning arrester 10 is attached to a pedestal 15 by an attaching/detaching jig 5a of the tip part of the operation rod 5. Next, the lightning arrester 10 is made to swing, advance, and retreat around first and second hinge parts 12, 14, and by making the gauge piece 20 swing, advance, and retreat around third and fourth hinge parts 16, 22, position of the gauge piece 20 is adjusted so that the tip part of a horn 8 of the insulation string 3 is positioned in the tolerance part 24 of the tip part of the gauge piece 20. After the position adjustment is completed, the lightning arrester 10 is fixed to the insulation string 3 by fully tightening the first, second, and third hinge parts 12, 14, 16, the gauge piece 20 is detached from the inserting part 16a of the lightning arrester 10.
