PURPOSE: To provide an audio recording camera in which waste of a magnetic memory and a semiconductor memory is eliminated, manual operation of the user is eliminated and an audio signal is recorded with low power consumption.

CONSTITUTION: An audio detection means 3 detects a signal excluding a mute part and surrounding noise or the like, and blocks of a buffer memory are recorded in duplicate usually before a pickup shutter is depressed, and whether or not an address of a buffer memory 7 to be recorded is a head address is detected, and when the address of the buffer memory 7 is the head address, a paragraph head detection means 6a detects a head of a paragraph and voice information from the head of the paragraph is recorded in the head address. When the address is not the head address, the paragraph head detection means 6a is not operated but the voice information is recorded continuously in the buffer memory 7. After a shutter picking up an optical image is depressed, both the audio signal in the buffer memory 7 for the block recorded in duplicate the moment when the shutter is depressed and the audio signal after the shutter is depressed are recorded in an audio memory 15 of the camera main body.
