Title:
AUSTENITIC STAINLESS FREE-CUTTING STEEL HAVING EXCELLENT COLD FORGEABILITY AND MACHINABILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008240053
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To impart machinability and cold forgeability to an austenitic stainless steel without using heavy metals exerting adverse influence on the environment (Pb, Bi, Se, Te), thus to perform the working of complicated parts which has been performed only by machining heretofore in combination with cold forging, so as to improve a yield.

The austenitic stainless free-cutting steel having excellent cold forgeability and machinability has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.03% C, 0.1 to 2.0% Si, 0.1 to 3.0% Mn, 0.05% P, 0.01 to 0.04% S, 8.0 to 12.0% Ni, 17.0 to 20.0% Cr, 1.0 to 4.0% Cu, 0.03% N, 0.002 to 0.01% Al, 0.001 to 0.01% Ca and 0.0001 to 0.01% Zr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
