Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indirect switching type automatic voltage regulator capable of surely performing a protection operation for protecting a circuit on a tap changer side from an abnormal overvoltage generated when a primary terminal of a series transformer is opened.SOLUTION: When the voltage between regulated voltage output terminals 8 and 9 of a tap changer 3 becomes equal to or higher than a determination voltage, it is determined that an accident occurs in which the primary terminals of a series transformer 1 are opened. A protective switch MC connected between the regulated voltage output terminals 8 and 9 of the tap changer 3 is then turned on to protect the tap changer 3 from overvoltage. The determination voltage is set to be equal to or higher than the primary voltage of the series transformer when the magnetic flux density of the iron core of the series transformer is saturated and to be less than the voltage when a thyristor constituting a bridging switch S of the tap changer 3 breaks down. By this setting, it is possible to reliably detect that the primary terminals of the series transformer 1 are opened and securely perform the protection operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
