Title:
BASE BODY FOR CATALYST CARRIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6415144
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the adhesion of a γ-Al2O3 layer by heating an aluminized layer applied to the surface of a stainless steel to form α-Al2O3 whiskers in the aluminized layer, and then applying γ-Al2O3 on the whiskers.

CONSTITUTION: An aluminized layer is formed on at least one side of a stainless steel by vapor deposition or electroplating. Heat treatment is applied simultaneously or after plating to form whiskers in the aluminized layer, and then γ-Al2O3 is applied on the whiskers to form the base body for a catalyst carrier. A stainless steel contg. 3W30wt.% Cr, ≤0.2wt.% carbon, ≤2wt.% Mn, ≤5wt.% Si, the balance iron, and impurities is appropriately used as the above-mentioned stainless steel. The thickness of the aluminized layer is appropriately controlled to 0.5W8.0μm.
