Abstract:

To provide a battery system controller capable of suppressing the raising amount of the terminal voltage in a lead accumulator when the lead accumulator and a high performance storage battery which are electrically connected to each other via an open-close switch, are cut off.

A battery controller is applied to a battery system having an alternator 10, electric loads 42, 43, a lead accumulator 20 capable of charging power generated by the alternator 10, a lithium battery 30 capable of charging power generated by the alternator 10 and discharge power of the lead accumulator 20, and a MOS switch 50 for switching electrical conduction or cut-off between the alternator 10, and the lead accumulator 20 and the lithium battery 30, and in which a terminal voltage of the lithium battery 30 is controlled to be lower than that of the lead accumulator 20. The switching from electrical conduction to cut-off of the MOS switch 50 is permitted on the condition that a charging current flowing into the lithium battery 30 is smaller than a decision value, and the decision is set at a smaller value as the internal resistance of the lead accumulator 20 is larger.
