Abstract:
To provide a beam expander capable of achieving a light beam with relatively uniform light intensity characteristics.SOLUTION: A roof-shaped optical element is provided in which light transmissive flat plates having the same thickness to each other are intersected in a V-shape, and an inner concave part 2 and an outer convex part 3 each having circular arc shaped cross section are formed along an inner surface and an outer surface of the intersection, respectively, and the inner surface serves as an incidence surface 4 of a light beam and the outer surface serves as an emission surface 5 of the light beam. The center of an incident light beam 6a is projected onto the circular arc shaped inner concave part 2, to thereby obtain a light beam 6b with a beam diameter uniaxially expanded at the emission surface side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
