To obtain a new bile acid derivative capable of being administered orally in a high dose, useful for the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia, etc., by converting a poorly absorbable therapeutic agent for cirrhosis to an absorbable agent.
This bile acid derivative is a compound of the formula: W-X-G [G is formula I (R3 to R8 are each O of carbonyl by joining together, H, OL, SL, NHL or the like; L is a 1-10C alkyl, a 3-8C cycloalkyl, phenyl or the like; Y is OL, NHL, an aminosulfonic acid or the like) ; X is a direct bond, O, S, SO2, COO or the like; W is formula II (Z is OH, NH2 or the like) or the like], e.g. a compound of formula III. Further, the compound of the formula: W-X-G is obtained e.g. by reacting each of the suitable reactive forms of the G and W by a known method in the case that the X is a direct bond.
