To provide a blood sampling system for taking blood samples for diagnostic purposes.
This blood sampling system includes a lancet ejection mechanism 41, wherein while a release element 61 is located in an active position, when an operating button of the lancet ejection mechanism 41 is operated, a used lancet 3 is removed from a housing 8, and when the lancet ejection mechanism 41 is in active state and the release element 61 is placed in the standby position, the lancet ejection mechanism 41 is in a non-active state so that even if the operating button is operated, ejection of the lancet is not caused. The leading end having a puncture opening part 11 in the puncture direction of the housing 8 is formed by a cap 7 which is removable to remove the used lancet, whereby when the cap 7 is put on, the cap 7 interacts with the release element 61 so that the release element 61 is put in the standby position, and when the cap 7 is removed, the release element 61 is switched to the active position.
