To provide a brake clearance adjusting device capable of always maintaining a brake clearance at a constant in various brake devices, in which appropriate brake clearance is different depending on the dimension of an electric brake device.

This electric brake device is provided with a force transmitting member 10 for receiving the drive force of an electric motor 2 and urging a brake member 6 to a member 7 to be braked. The electric brake device has a brake clearance detector 12 for detecting that the force transmitting member 10 is retreated by a predetermined quantity from the time, when an urged state of the brake member is released at releasing of the brake and is constituted to stop the electric motor 2 by the above detection of the brake clearance detector 12.
