PURPOSE: To obtain a bulky synthetic pulp sheet free from loss of shape even after absorption of water and to provide its production method.

CONSTITUTION: This bulky synthetic pulp sheet is produced by making paper by the wet method from a mixture of 50 to 90wt.% synthetic pulp having ≥0.1sec/g and 42.0sec/g freeness, 5 to 30wt.% binder having a melting point lower than the melting point or the decomposition temperature of the synthetic pulp and o to 40wt.% one or more kinds of materials selected from the group composed of a synthetic fiber, a composite type hot melt fiber, an acid-resistant inorganic fiber and an acid-resistant inorganic powder. This pulp sheet is characterized by ≤0.15g/cm3 apparent density measured under 200g/cm2 load and ≤50μm maximum pare diameter. As for the production method for this bulky synthetic pulp sheet, a surfactant is sprayed on a wet sheet formed on a wire when the above-mentioned mixture is subjected to wet-type papermaking and dehydration is carried out according to the suction method and/or the press method.
