PURPOSE: To prepare new butyric acid amides effective for controlling insects and ticks particularly in rice, cotton, vegetable and fruit crops and forests as agents for controlling harmful insects and furthermore effective for normal sensitive kinds and resisting kinds in all or individual growing stages.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. in a free form or in a salt form expressed by formula I (A is a mono- or bi-cyclic nitrogen-contg. heterocyclic radical that is bonded via a ring nitrogen atom or formulae II to III; R1 is each H, an alkyl, haloalkyl or benzyl; R2 and R3 are each H or an alkyl; R4 is H, an alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or a mono- or bi-cyclic heterocyclic radical; R5 and R2 are each H, an alkyl or phenyl) such as 4-chloro-4,4-difluoro-N-methoxy-butyric acid amide. The compd. is produced by (a) reacting the compd. of the formula IV (Hal is halogen) with the compd. of formula V in the presence of a base or (b) reacting the compd. of the formula VI with the compd. of reacting formula VII in the presence of a cendensing agent.
