NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I {A is group of formula II (B is alkylene) or CO; R1 and R2 are alkyl, phenylalkyl or together with bonding N form the group of formula III [R3 is (substituted) phenyl; Z is CO, group of formula IV or -B-CR5H- (R4 is OH, alkanoyloxy, etc.; R5 is CN, halogen, etc.)]}.
EXAMPLE: 6-[4-( 3-Phenyl-3-hydroxyiminopropyl )-1-piperazinylcarbonyl]-3,4-dihy drocarbostyryl.
USE: It has excellent positively inotropic action, coronary blood flow increasing action and hypotensive action, is almost free from increment of pulse rate and has low central side effects.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula I wherein A is CO can be produced by the amide bond-forming reaction of a carbostyryl derivative of formula V or its carboxyl-activated derivative with an amine of formula HNR1R2.
