Title:
CASE HARDENING STEEL WITH SUPERIOR CARBURIZABILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5528326
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the title case hardening steel with high machinability, which steel produces little strain owing to heat treatment after carburization hardening, by raising the C contact of a conventional case hardening steel and by reducing the Si, Mn, Ni and Cr contents so that the total vol. of Si, Mn, Ni and Cr change vols. and the corrected value of a Mo% change vol. becomes a specified negative value.

CONSTITUTION: This case hardening steel is obtd. by raising the C content of a conventional case hardening steel and reducing other alloying elements. By regulating their change vols. so that equation I is satisfied, the resulting case hardening steel is provided with superior carburizability and produces little strain owing to heat treatment after caburization hardening. The steel, e.g., consists of C 0.25W0.40%, Si 0.05W0.50%, Mn 0.05W0.71% and Fe the valance or C 0.25W0.40%, Si 0.05W 0.50%, Mn 0.10W1.2%, Cr≤1.5%, Mo≤0.6/ and Fe the balance.
