The cash management system includes: a recovery cassette 20 which is freely attached/detached to/from a change machine 10 for recovering currency from the change machine 10, and provided with a storage medium 21 for storing information for specifying a cash balance; and a cassette storage device 30 having at least one cassette storage part 31 for storing the recovery cassette 20, a reading part 36 for reading the information from the storage medium 21 of the recovery cassette 20 stored by the cassette storage part 31, and management parts (37, 38) for acquiring a cash balance in the recovery cassette 20 on the basis of the information read from the reading part 36, and for managing an amount of recovery from the change machine 10.
