To provide a catalyst which is used in a FT method, has a high chain propagation probability, excellent olefin selectivity and high activity, stably and smoothly advances a reaction, increases the productivity of a C5+ fraction and efficiently produces liquid hydrocarbons and to provide a method for producing hydrocarbons.
The catalyst for producing hydrocarbons is obtained by depositing a ruthenium compound on a carrier composed of manganese oxide and aluminum oxide in which the pore volume formed by the pores having ≥8 nm pore diameter occupies ≥50% of the whole pore volume. The method for producing hydrocarbons comprises a step of bringing a gaseous mixture mainly made up of hydrogen and carbon monoxide into contact with the above catalyst.
