Abstract:

To provide a catalytic structure in which the original performance of a catalyst is brought out to the full by uniformizing a flow velocity distribution of a gas, which is to be treated and flows in a catalyst element, and high efficiency of the catalytic performance of which is achieved while suppressing increase of the pressure loss of the catalytic structure due to a flow of the gas.

The catalytic structure is characterized in that a plurality of projected line parts 1a, each of which is extended to the direction perpendicular to the flow direction of exhaust gas and has a curved shape in the cross section, are formed on the catalyst element having a gas cleaning catalyst on the surface and a flat plate-like shape while leaving a space between the adjacent projected line parts, the obtained catalytic elements 1 are layered on one another at even intervals by using a space keeping member 4 and the layered catalytic elements are held in a unit frame 3. The layered pitch (P) of the catalyst elements 1 is 3-10 mm. The ratio (H/P) of the height (H) of the projected line part 1a from the flat surface of the catalyst element to the layered pitch (P) is 0.1-0.6 mm. The ratio (W/H) of the width (W) of the projected line part 1a to the height (H) is 1-5 mm. The ratio of the space (L) between the adjacent projected line parts 1a, 1a on the catalyst element 1 to the height (H) is 5-15 mm.
