This cell disrupter that a screw shaft driven with a motor is rotatably supported in a receiving cylinder having a feeding port and that a fixed blade and a rotary blade for disrupting biological tissue pieces fed with the screw shaft are attached to the discharging side of the receiving cylinder is characterized by disposing a cooling tank for freezing the biological tissue pieces at a place near to the feeding port. The method for disrupting the cells is characterized by feeding frozen biological tissue pieces or the frozen biological tissue pieces and ice in a mixed state into a feeding port.
