Title:
CERAMIC UNDERWATER PLAIN BEARING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01312225
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an underwater bearing excellent in erosion/abrasion resistance and for which maintenance and inspection are unnecessary in a long period by impregnating cylindrically molded porous ceramic with metal or alloy.

CONSTITUTION: An underwater plain bearing is formed by dispersing metal or alloy in ceramic molded cylindrically. A large part of bearing load is charged by ceramic, and the metal or alloy functions as self-lubricant. Life of the bearing is elongated by selecting material with sufficient abrasion resistance and toughness as ceramic, while self-lubricity is added by selecting material suited to a shaft sleeve as the metal or alloy. The underwater bearing of an underwater treating mechanism is free from physical and chemical damage in treated raw water, and from maintenance and inspection.
