Abstract:
To provide transgenic silkworm production systems for chimera spider silk production.SOLUTION: Provided is a nucleic acid encoding a chimeric spider silk polypeptide, the chimeric spider silk polypeptide comprising in the direction from N-terminal to C-terminal, (a) Bombyx mori fibroin heavy chain (fhc) silk polypeptide N-terminal domain (NTD); (b) one or more repetitive segments comprising one or more spider silk motifs, each repetitive segment comprising one or more copies of an elastic motif, an optional linker, and one or more strength motifs, in the direction from N-terminal to C-terminal; and (c) C-terminal domain (CTD) of fhc silk polypeptide of Bombyx mori.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
