To provide a chopping cutter in which the tip of a pawl member is moved not in an arcuate state but in a vertical direction, the tip of the pawl is pierced into a stock log without sliding so that the surface side of the pawl member may not push out the log in the direction of the cutting part, even when the end of the stock log is small or the log has a round shape.
The chopping cutter comprises a grip 22 which starts rotating down at a rotary shaft 32 as a center when a hand 22a starts lowering in a downward direction. Thus, the coupling member 33 of a bearing 22b is drawn, a vertical shaft 31 waited above long holes 24a, 25a is drawn in a downward direction. The pawl member 21 fixed to the vertical shaft 31 is lowered, pierced into the stock log M and surely pierced into the log M via holding teeth 26.
