To provide a cleaning apparatus capable of continuously conducting a web's heating and drying operation by a paper machine dryer.

The cleaning apparatus includes a pair of hoisting shafts 15 and 15 collocated horizontally in parallel to each other, an endless spiral net 39 moving around by the revolution of the hoisting shafts 15 and 15, and revolution-driving means for the hoisting shafts 15 and 15. In this apparatus, when the spiral net is stained on taking deposits thereon by wiping the deposits on a canvas as a result of getting in contact from above with the canvas 7 traveling around, the thus stained surface is moved around by the revolution-driving means, resulting in bringing the clean surface of the spiral net into contact with the canvas.
