PURPOSE: To achieve higher pressing effect by forming a recess part at a cushion part corresponding to a screw head covering the screw head in the apparatus in which a hinge device for pivoting a fixed plate and a mobile plate and a retaining device for connecting both the plates are clamped securely on the mobile plate with a clamping member such as screw.

CONSTITUTION: This press apparatus comprises a plywood or the like. A mobile plate 13 having a cushion 15 on the side of the internal surface thereof is linked free to turn to one end of a fixed plate 11 having a heater 12 on the side of the internal surface thereof with a hinge device, and the fixed plate 11 and the mobile plate 13 are connected mutually with a retaining device 16 on the other end sides thereof. The hinge device and the retaining device 16 are clamped securely on the mobile plate 13 from inside with a clamping member 20 such as screw. In this case, a recess part 21 is formed on the cushion 15 at a position facing the head 20a of the clamping member 20 sticking out from the inner surface of the flat mobile plate 13 to cover the head 20a from above. This constitution eliminates a lift by the screw head 20a of the cushion 15 thereby enhancing pressing effect of clothes or the like.
