To provide a clothing treatment apparatus having a structure which is not put into an unsafe state when an insulation failure of a device occurs.
The clothing treatment apparatus comprises: a housing tub for housing clothing; a steam supply mechanism for supplying steam to the housing tub; a water storage tank for storing water to be supplied to the steam supply mechanism; and a water level sensor having an electrode for detecting a water level of the water storage tank. By arranging in the water storage tank an electrode for grounding water in the water storage tank, the water stored in the water storage tank is grounded. Thus, it is possible to prevent water from being a charge part even when a circuit of the water level sensor is dielectrically brokedown in a state where the electrode for detecting a water level contacts water. Therefore, it is possible to prevent an electric shock via water.
