PURPOSE: To provide a clutch device in which the terminal of a spring clutch is never fitted to the inside through a groove provided on the cylindrical part of a member fitted to a rotating shaft, and a recording device using this clutch device.

CONSTITUTION: In this clutch device comprising a worm wheel 22 fitted to a feed roller shaft 21, and a coil spring clutch 24 provided between the cylindrical part 22b of the worm wheel 22 and an arbor 23 fixed to the feed roller shaft 21, the terminal 24a of the spring clutch 24 being protruded from the groove 22a of the cylindrical part 22b, a cylindrical spring retainer 40 is provided between the cylindrical part 22b and the spring clutch 24, and the terminal 24a is passed to the groove of the spring retainer 40. According to this structure, when the worm wheel 22 is rotated in direction F, since the terminal 24a is supported by the groove of the spring retainer 40 when the worm wheel 22 is rotated in direction F, the deflection is minimized, and the slippage from the groove 22a is eliminated, so that the clutch operation can be ensured.
