To provide a coated paper exhibiting excellent solvent resistance to both of polar solvents and non-polar solvents, and further provide a coated paper having high glossiness and gas permeability, causing little deterioration of image clarity, utilizable as casting paper for synthetic leather, capable of producing a synthetic leather having good appearance with little lowering of the mirror finish.

The coated paper has a base paper and a coating layer placed at least on one surface of the base paper and containing a pigment and an adhesive as main components. The adhesive contains both of polyacrylic acid and polyvinyl alcohol or contains a polyacrylic acid-polyvinyl alcohol copolymer.
