Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold crucible melting furnace capable of restricting molten metal from flowing out of an object to be tapped such as a casting mold even if the crucible has a large diameter.SOLUTION: A cold crucible melting furnace of this invention comprises: a side wall part where a plurality of side wall segments 120, 120,... made of copper or copper alloy are arranged adjacent to each other in a peripheral direction; a bottom part positioned below the side wall part; and an induction heating coil 30 arranged to be spaced apart in a radial outer direction of the side wall. In the case where tap is performed by inclining the cold crucible melting furnace in respect to a part in a peripheral direction in the side wall part, the section crossing at a right angle with the flowing direction of the molten metal is provided with a tap part 13 having a lower position part 131 placed at a lower position than other portions.
